Buy

March 17th, 2008

I just bought a heavy duty 5′ x 2.5′ table with folding chairs from Suzi; I found the table on Craigslist.

And for $10 she even delivered it to me, since I no longer know anyone with a truck here in Austin.

She is selling a bunch more of her stuff, including expensive granite benches, cutesy birdhouses, and her Nissan Frontier.

Go check out her site with the fun domain name to see what else she’s selling: www.googlamazon.com.porn xxx amateurpornholio lucysgotlegs amateurcreampies gigagalleriesamateure movies pornamateurhousewife pornamateurpornoporn amateurs vidsamatoriali video filmati pornoporn amatuare Maploan deposit payday without directpayday loans kirklandof payday loans americapayday account loans savingsloan paying apple mbnacalculators loan payoffbad credit pennsylvania loanpennsylvania loan regulations licensing Map

How I made $10 off of 90DayJane

February 19th, 2008

The blog ‘90DayJane’ (formerly at 90DayJane.com and 90dayjane.blogspot.com) debuted a couple weeks ago. The premise was that the author decided life is meaningless so she should just kill herself (see Myth of Sisyphus). Her blog was supposed to chronicle the 90 days leading up to her death.

I first came across the blog when she was on her second post. As soon as I saw the Digg widget on the side, I knew she was full of it. My friend and I discussed betting odds. $10 got him $30 if she turned out to be sincere.

And a few days later, she admitted it was actually an “art project” and took down the site.

I spent my $10 on a gallon of milk and a six pack of beer.

Jonathan Coulton, virtual idols, "Still Alive", brain frazzle

November 4th, 2007

Josh Rogers and Warren Ellis posted the below video. It’s from the end-credits of a videogame called “Portal,” and the song (”Still Alive”) was written by Jonathan Coulton. Rogers says it explains how he and other film/tv writers feel about the current strike. And Ellis just thinks it’s pretty, pretty music.

But if you really want to feel like your brain is melting and leaking out of your nose, you’ll click play on this next video and then try to follow along with the lyrics beneath it. This video is an audio recording of a Japanese ‘virtual idol’ singing “Still Alive” with a Kirk Douglas accent (Was that too mean?).

Lyrics from Coulton’s blog:

This was a triumph
I’m making a note here: huge success
It’s hard to overstate my satisfaction
Aperture Science
We do what we must because we can
For the good of all of us
Except the ones who are dead
But there’s no sense crying over every mistake
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake
And the science gets done and you make a neat gun
For the people who are still alive

I’m not even angry
I’m being so sincere right now
Even though you broke my heart and killed me
And tore me to pieces
And threw every piece into a fire
As they burned it hurt because
I was so happy for you
Now these points of data make a beautiful line
And we’re out of beta, we’re releasing on time
So I’m glad I got burned, think of all the things we learned
For the people who are still alive

Go ahead and leave me
I think I’d prefer to stay inside
Maybe you’ll find someone else to help you
Maybe Black Mesa
That was a joke, ha ha, fat chance
Anyway this cake is great
It’s so delicious and moist
Look at me still talking when there’s science to do
When I look out there it makes me glad I’m not you
I’ve experiments to run, there is research to be done
On the people who are still alive

And believe me I am still alive
I’m doing science and I’m still alive
I feel fantastic and I’m still alive
And while you’re dying I’ll be still alive
And when you’re dead I will be still alive
Still alive
Still alive
